How will you pay your council tax?
Your council tax bill will give you instructions on how to pay your council tax. The information on this page will help you if you wish to change your payment method or instalment plan.
Council tax payment is made in 10 monthly instalments, from April to January. However you can also pay 1 payment in April, 2 half-yearly payments in April and October, or 12 monthly instalments from April to March. Please tell us immediately if you do not want to pay in 10 instalments; and before Friday 21 February 2014 so that you can get all 12 instalments from April to March for you coming 2014/2015 annual bill.
Direct Debit payments are taken directly from your bank account. The scheme is our most simple and cost effective method of payment. It will save you time and help us because we do not have to chase you for payment. There are no cheques to write and no paperwork or postage each month. You will be advised at least 10 working days in advance to any changes to your instalments so you can remain in complete control of your bank account.
To pay by Direct Debit you can call us on 01296 585299 and we can take your bank details over the telephone. Alternatively please see the bottom of this page to download a form to print, complete and return it to us.
Internet bill payment and standing orders
You can use internet banking to set up bill payments to send us the requested instalments. If you do not use internet banking then you can contact your bank to send us regular payments as a standing order.

If you have a credit or debit card you can pay your bill over the telephone. Please call (01296) 585820. This service is now available 24 hours a day.
The cash offices in Aylesbury, Buckingham and Winslow have closed. Should you wish to pay by cash then you can take your latest bill, which will have a bar-code printed on it, to either a Post Office, or any of the PayPoint payment locations across the Aylesbury Vale area. Please note that is you register for on-line billing account with My account you will not receive a bar coded on your e-bill and therefore you cannot pay at a Post Office or Paypoint. You will need to pay by one of the other methods.
