The Community Trigger Process

* Please note that complex cases may take longer than the target times detailed here, however if this is the case we will keep you informed and provide revised target dates.

  1. Request to activate community trigger received

  2. ASB Officer/Gatekeeper will:

  • log and acknowledge receipt of request
  • inform chair of Safer Buckinghamshire Board
  • conduct ASB Risk Assessment

Within 3 Working Days

  1. The  ASB Officer/Gatekeeper will:  

Inform relevant agencies of Trigger, and request information from them

Provisionally arrange date for panel review, to be held within 28 days of receipt of application

The relevant bodies will:

Provide the requested information within 10 working days of request to do so

Within 10 working days

  1.  Community Trigger threshold NOT MET

ASB Officer/Gatekeeper will: Within 5 working days

  • Communicate outcome to applicant
  • Signpost if applicable to appropriate agency (e.g. if request for service or complaint)
  • Advise applicant of right to appeal

Appeal:

If the applicant wishes to appeal the decision made, this should be made in writing within 10 working days of the outcome notification to the Chair of Aylesbury Vale Community Safety Partnership.

Or

  1. Community trigger threshold MET

ASB Officer/Gatekeeper will: Within 5 working days

  • Advise applicant of outcome and next steps.

Case Review Meeting: Within 28 days of application

At the meeting, the Panel will:

  • review the information and any action taken to date
  • where possible agree further actions as required, and set date for completion
  • where possible make recommendations to respective agency / agencies as required

The ASB Officer/Gatekeeper will: Within 5 working days of the case review

  • Communicate the outcome to applicant
  • Advise applicant of right to appeal
  • Record the outcome

Appeal:

If the applicant wishes to appeal the decision made, this should be made in writing within 10 working days of the outcome notification to the Chair of Aylesbury Vale Community Safety Partnership.

We will publish data regarding the Community Trigger in April each Year to include:

  • How many requests received
  • How many met threshold
  • How many case reviews
  • How many case reviews resulted in further action
