Design Awards 2018

Entries invited for the 2018 Design Awards

Entries to the 2018 Design Awards are welcomed from any building or structure which demonstrates good design.

Examples are;

  • Individual new houses
  • New housing developments
  • Commercial buildings
  • Conversions
  • Extensions

Entries will be judged by a panel of design professionals and AVDC members who will consider;

  • context, including local distinctiveness
  • quality of design and construction
  • fitness for purpose
  • sustainability
  • accessibility
  • attractiveness
  • innovation

The View, Dadford - Winner of AVDC Design Award Plaque 2017

Replacing four dilapidated cottages, The View overlooks the Grade 1 listed Stowe House and gardens, with housing that respects the local context and enhances the site.

 

During the awards ceremony the development was described as “a scheme which truly delivers a contemporary take on the vernacular”.

When designing Stoney Furlong, great care was taken to respect the varied architecture in the locality to create an organic and natural extension to the area.

Sat in a conservation area, The Dove House project involved replacing existing building works to provide an excellent balance between modern and traditional design. 

White Hart Barn, Haddenham

The brief for White Hart Barn was to restore, repair and bring the space back into use as a modern, comfortable family living space. The result, contemporary materials sat side-by-side with tradition.
