Buckinghamshire Council have always looked to be an employer of choice for all members of our community and were signed up to the 2-Tick Scheme, which supports the recruitment of employees with disabilities.
This scheme expired and has been replaced by a new Government scheme called Disability Confident. The purpose of the scheme is to allow employers to demonstrate their commitment to disables employees – now and in the future through 3 different levels.
Buckinghamshire Council has successfully achieved Level 1 and agreed to adhere to the Disability Confident commitments. The commitments are:-
- inclusive and accessible recruitment
- communicating vacancies
- offering an interview to disabled people
- providing reasonable adjustments
- supporting existing employees
In addition to this Buckinghamshire Council have committed to ensure disabled people are given the opportunity of paid employment as well as identifying other opportunities such as work experience, job shadowing and apprenticeships.
This is a really positive step in Buckinghamshire Council’s commitment to our employees and our community, ensuring we have a diverse workforce by attracting the best talent.
