After “Noises off” & “Relatively Speaking” New Penny Theatre Company hits the stage at the Elgiva once more with Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious hit comedy “Bedroom Farce”.
Set in the seventies, we visit three bedrooms over one night and the next morning, following the story of four married couples. Delia and Ernest, the oldest couple, are getting ready to celebrate their wedding anniversary; the youngest couple Malcolm and Kate are preparing for their housewarming party. The other two couples, Jan and Nick and Susannah and Trevor are invited to this party.
This play explores the differences in relationships between the younger and older generations and captures unlikely issues that may strain the relationships even further. Observe our 4 couples in this absurd and confusing comedy, comparing and contrasting the differences between couples young and old, and the different troubles they encounter. This play had certain sadistic aspects involving cheating, and lying, which evolves into forgiveness and devotion. Although the play may seem to lead into a corner of despair and heartbreak, it substitutes the hard truths of certain relationships into relationships that may have a chance at survival.
