What are we offering?
A 12-month programme to support returners to the workplace who have taken more than two years out of work. It will include a year-long structured programme where you will have the opportunity to work across a range of different teams. You’ll learn about the wide variety of roles and specialisms within the organisation, while refreshing your skills and building up your confidence.
What are we looking for?
This programme will suit you if you are looking to return to your original career or you are keen to explore some new options and possibly develop a new career path.
At AVDC we believe that the right behaviour is vital to high performance. What we need from you is energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Flexibility and not being afraid to challenge the status quo are also valued. Contracts will be for 12 months with a minimum of 20 hours per week. We are happy to discuss individual circumstances and where possible adapt arrangements to suit your needs. We are offering opportunities across three areas:
1. Service Delivery
The Customer Relationship team is a fast paced, forward thinking and a customer focused team. It takes pride in the delivery of frontline services for the residents and customers of Aylesbury Vale. If customer contact and interaction is your area of interest, then the service delivery stream might be the one for you. We will offer opportunties to work in administration and customer contact and also within our statutory services. We use leading edge digital technology, so this area will give you the opportunity to bring your tech skills up to date.
Our forward-thinking leaders are always striving to stay ahead of the competition in delivering innovative services. If you are an experienced leader and want to refresh your skills why not consider a role within our leadership stream? This area offers an opportunity to manage and lead a team in our Customer Fulfilment sector.
Local government has a wealth of technical and professional roles which have a real impact on the local community. Ever wondered what it would be like to work in Town Planning, Licensing, Building Control, Housing, Revenues and Benefits or Environmental Health? Then the technical/professional stream might be of interest to you. This option will provide a series of placements within these technical streams giving you the chance to learn more about what is involved.
Don’t worry if you haven’t got experience in these areas, the scheme will support you through the placements giving you the opportunity to learn more about what is involved. This is an opportunity to refresh your skills, learn new ones and maybe develop a new career path where you can have a real impact on the community.
At the end of the 12 months, if you are enthused and keen to return to work permanently, then you may be able to apply for a permanent role. If you are successful, we will support you to formally qualify in your chosen field (subject to certain conditions).
The heart of the programme
The heart of our programme is about building confidence and skills and offering returners an opportunity to refresh existing skills and develop some new ones, before deciding permanently on their next career move. You will start with a structured induction programme and then be supported by an experienced mentor throughout the programme who will provide guidance, information and emotional support to help you integrate back into the workplace. There will also be a series of supporting activities to help to refresh your skills and develop new ones.
What will we offer?
We can offer real flexible working patterns, childcare vouchers, full and part-time opportunities, supported by a wide range of development opportunities. Salary will be between £21,000 and £29,000 depending on prior experience.
