Litter and litter bins

Litter and litter bins

Keeping the Vale clean and tidy.

Dropping litter is an offence and could result in a fine.

Buckinghamshire Council provide litter bins across the district. These bins are intended for ‘on the go rubbish’ and should NOT be used for the disposal of household or commercial waste.

Litter bins are emptied on various frequencies depending on footfall and usage. They range from daily collections to weekly collections.

We aim to empty litter bins before they get full, but if you do see a full or damaged bin please let us know.

We are not responsible for emptying bins provided on private land or by private businesses. Litter bins in shopping centres and on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.

Please help us by:

  • Always use a litter bin when you’re out and about and encourage others to use them.
  • If you cannot find a litter bin, please take your rubbish home with you.
  • Do not put your household rubbish in street litter bins or next to street litter bins, please place your rubbish in your own waste bins for collection. This is deemed as fly-tipping which is a criminal offence.
  • You can take any additional waste to your nearest Household Recycling Centre(the tip).

Request for installation of litter bin

Most bins are owned by parish and town councils, so you should contact your local parish/town clerk to request a new or replacement bin.

Litter bins in shopping centres and on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
