From Play in the Park to Bucks County Show, the Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) roadshow visited a total of 14 events across the Vale, over the summer. Whilst touring, the roadshow included a chance for visitors to strike up a conversation with Amazon’s Alexa - as well as the opportunity to win an Amazon Echo.
Hundreds of residents were entered into a prize draw, and the lucky winner was Heather Stuchbury from Waddesdon. The AVDC team welcomed Heather to The Gateway to receive her Amazon Echo. She commented,
“It was a lovely surprise to be contacted and told I had won an Amazon Echo. I’m sure it will prove to be a fun and informative addition to the home for all of my family – including my two year old grandson!”
The prize was presented by Councillor Janet Blake, Cabinet Member for Commercialisation and Business Transformation. She said, "The roadshow was a great success and a useful way of letting our residents know about the digital transformations currently underway at AVDC. We're the first local authority in the world to launch a 'skill' for Amazon's voice-controlled Alexa, so we're really pleased to give an Amazon Echo to our competition winner."
