Eating out or ordering a takeaway in Aylesbury Vale this summer? The good news is you can expect a high standard of food hygiene – as the most recently released figures reveal.
Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Environmental Health team regularly visit restaurants, takeaways and food shops around the Vale and rate the standard of hygiene from 5 to 0 according to the Food Standards Agency’s Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
There are currently 1,195 food premises within Aylesbury Vale which are included in the scheme. Of these, 1,155 (96.7%) have a rating of 3 (generally satisfactory) or more. There are 785 premises (65.6% of the total) which are rated as a 5 (very good).
Cllr Sir Beville Stanier, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “These are excellent results which reflect the great work of our Environmental Health team and the food premises themselves. We will continue to strive to ensure those working in the food industry maintain a high standard of food hygiene”.
AVDC’s Environmental Health team works with premises that score below 3 to help them improve their hygiene levels, and if necessary use legal powers to ensure compliance with the law.
