Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) is offering free Christmas parking in its town centre car parks in Aylesbury and Buckingham on selected days in November and December.
AVDC car parks in Aylesbury will be free after 3.30pm on the following Thursdays: 29 November, 6 December, 13 December and 20 December. This is to coincide with the late night shopping taking place on those evenings.
In addition, Walton Street car park will be free all day on the following Sundays: 2 December, 9 December, 16 December, 23 December and 30 December. This includes the day of Buckinghamshire’s biggest free Christmas Craft & Gift Fair - which takes place in Market Square on Sunday 2 December, 11am to 3pm.
For residents and visitors unfamiliar with Walton Street car park, this is the largest AVDC car park in the town, with 525 available spaces. Conveniently located for the heart of the town centre it can be found next to the Ex-Services Club. The car park offers a pleasant and scenic stroll to the shops and restaurants, with the walkway passing by the canal and the award-winning Waterside Theatre.
In Buckingham, Cornwalls Meadow car park will be free all day on Saturday 15 December - to benefit the popular Christmas parade happening on that day.
Councillor Julie Ward, Cabinet Member for Amenities, said:
“I’m very pleased that we’re once again able to offer selected free parking in Aylesbury and Buckingham over the Christmas period. Residents and visitors can take advantage of the Aylesbury free parking to do their Christmas shopping during the Thursday late night openings in the town centre. And in Buckingham, I’m sure the free parking will help ensure the Christmas parade is a fun, friendly and festive day for all the family.”
