Aylesbury Market has received special recognition from the National Association of British Market Authorities (NAMBA) in this year's Love Your Local Market event.
The annual national event aims to celebrate Britain’s markets, and consists of an average of 5,000 events and special market days held between 17-31 May across the UK.
Aylesbury Market put on a fantastic feast of wide-ranging entertainment. Performances by jazz and silver bands created a festival atmosphere, with Morris and Charleston dancers adding to the musical mix. For keen gardeners and wildlife lovers, there was a Green Fingers event supported by the National Trust, as well as a special appearance from the Rescue Owls Aylesbury Society. A specialist fruit carver transformed a watermelon with a Love Your Local Market logo and the foodie theme was topped off with a giant Love Your Local Market cake for traders and customers alike to enjoy.
Diana Fawcett, Aylesbury Town Centre Manager, said: “This year’s Love Your Local Market event was a fantastic success for Aylesbury. Residents and visitors to the market clearly enjoyed the various events that were on offer. It’s our intention to build upon the success of this event, and to help ensure that Aylesbury Market grows from strength to strength.”
