If you live or work near, or regularly pass, a new development that makes you look again and think it deserves wider recognition – why not nominate it for the Aylesbury Vale Design Awards 2019? To nominate a scheme simply email DesignAwards@aylesburyvaledc.gov.ukwith a summary of why you are making the nomination. Nominations are open now and entries close on Wednesday 31 July.
The Design Awards are open to residential, community and commercial schemes and can include new build, conversions, extensions, redevelopment and restoration projects and could range from a single dwelling to a much larger scheme. There will also be a winner of the Outstanding Design award.
Councillor Peter Strachan, AVDC cabinet member and Design Champion, said: “Aylesbury Vale is a great place to live, work and grow, and we would love to have nominations from residents who have admired a nearby new development, a public space or a new play park, for example. Celebrating these achievements and good examples helps the district raise the bar and enhance the design quality of new developments to maintain the special qualities of Aylesbury Vale.
“2019 will be the 26th, and the last, AVDC Design Awards – as this time next year, the new Buckinghamshire Council will be in place. So it is more important than ever to send in your nominations to help us celebrate the building projects that make Aylesbury Vale a distinctive and special area.”
Introduced last year, and continuing again this year, is the People’s Award. Details of all shortlisted schemes will be put on the AVDC website and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite.
