Aylesbury Vale District Council has formally adopted the Marsh Gibbon Neighbourhood Plan (MGNP) following its full council meeting.
At the meeting on 25 February, members agreed to make the neighbourhood plan (covering the same area as the parish council) part of the local plan for the district (planning policy used to determine planning applications).
The MGNP went through a neighbourhood planning referendum in December 2014 , where residents of the parish were asked if they wanted AVDC to use the plan for Marsh Gibbon to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area. 93 per cent of voters said yes.
Neighbourhood planning was introduced by the government as part of the Localism Act in 2011. The Marsh Gibbon plan is the second in the district to go through the whole process and be formally adopted.
