With the deadline to register to vote in the general election less than a week away, those who are not yet on the electoral register are being urged to take action now to ensure they have a say on election day.
Peter Brown, Electoral Services Manager said: “Don’t miss out on your chance to vote on 8 June. The deadline to register is 5pm on Tuesday 22 May, and it is quick and easy to apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. If you would prefer to vote by postal vote rather than going along to a polling station, we need your application by 5pm on Tuesday 23 May.”
Aylesbury Vale District Council started distributing poll cards on 9 May, and people can expect to start receiving their postal votes from 23 May. Residents who have received a poll card do not need to register again, but for anyone who is unsure, the quickest way to check is to webchat AVDC at www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk. People can check out eligibility at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
