Aylesbury Vale District Council’s (AVDC) crowdfunding platform, Our Vale, is celebrating its first successful community project to reach, and even surpass, its target.

The Adventure Learning Charity, based at Aston Clinton's Green Park, was raising money through AVDC’s Our Vale crowdfunding initiative to replace and improve their ropes courses to include one of the only wheelchair-accessible high ropes courses in the area. With support from local residents, organisations and a contribution from AVDC's Our Vale fund, the project has reached it's £2,995 target and is now in the process of 'overfunding' for additional hoists and further specialised equipment suitable for inclusive usage.

Heidi Nugent, Development Advisor at The Adventure Learning Charity, said:

“The Adventure Learning Charity has been overwhelmed by the response it has received for its first crowdfunding project. Our Vale has enabled us to share our idea with the local community and in response we have received numerous pledges allowing us to turn our project into a reality. Purchasing key equipment will ensure we are totally inclusive. People of all abilities are going to be able to enjoy our amazing ropes courses within the grounds of Green Park - including one of the only wheelchair-accessible high ropes courses in the area with its specially designed obstacles. Our Vale has certainly given our project the boost it needed! We look forward to sharing other projects in the future.”

The project is still open to support and pledge towards and you can follow The Adventure Learning Charity’s journey by visiting: www.spacehive.com/all-inclusive-adventurous-equipment

Councillor Julie Ward, Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities, said:

“We’re delighted that AVDC’s Our Vale platform has enabled this fantastic community project to come to life. The crowdfunding model is a great way for local residents, businesses and organisations, as well as larger and national campaigns, to support and deliver projects back to the community. AVDC was pleased to have a hand in turning this project into reality and would like to congratulate The Adventure Learning Charity on its success.”
