Housing and Homelessness in Aylesbury Vale - your views needed

9 Jul 2018

After months of detailed research and consultation with partners and stakeholders, Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) is inviting views on the draft Housing and Homelessness Strategy for 2019-2022 for the Vale. Comments are especially encouraged from those who have been impacted either directly or indirectly by homelessness.

The draft strategy sets out AVDC’s commitment to working in partnership with stakeholders to prevent or resolve homelessness, while ensuring people wishing to make the Vale their home are able to do so. It focuses on four key priorities:

  • Preventing and reducing homelessness and rough sleeping
  • Continuing to facilitate and maximise the supply of affordable housing
  • Responding to the ongoing challenges of welfare reform
  • Contributing to the improvement of health and wellbeing services for people at risk of homelessness

The consultation period will run until Friday 3 August. Any comments received during this period will be considered by the council before the strategy is finalised and presented for adoption.

Cllr Angela Macpherson, Acting Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities commented: “With the help and commitment of all our partners, we want to enable and equip individuals so they become more resourceful and adaptable to navigate through the challenges of life.

“Our draft Housing and Homelessness Strategy focuses on preventing homelessness and securing affordable long-term housing across the Vale. We are now looking for views which will help us make the greatest possible positive difference for the Vale.”
