The Leader of Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) has announced a change to the authority’s top team, with the appointment of a new cabinet member. Cllr Julie Ward represents Oakfield and Bierton and will take on areas of responsibility that were previously in the portfolio of Cllr Angela MacPherson, Cabinet Member for Communities.
Cllr Ward has taken on the new position of Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities and will oversee areas including town centre management and promotion, street environment, car parks, markets and community centres.
Cllr Ward said: “Serving my local community is a real privilege and I’m delighted to have been appointed to this role. With local government going through such change there’s a lot of work to be done and I’m looking forward to this new challenge”.
Leader, Cllr Neil Blake commented: “As the Vale continues to grow and thrive, AVDC is changing across the organisation to deliver the best services for our residents and communities, and this includes reviewing the work of our cabinet members. I’m delighted to have Cllr Ward on board during these exciting times”.
AVDC’s cabinet are on the road this June and will be meeting in Quainton Memorial Hall on Wednesday 28 June from 5.30pm. At this meeting, residents have the chance to meet with cabinet members, take part in open discussions and ask questions about local issues.
