New crèche lets parents enjoy some ‘me time’

12 Jun 2015

Customers of the Swan Pool and Leisure Centre in Buckingham can enjoy some leisure or workout time while their children are being cared for by professional and qualified staff in the new on-site crèche facilities.

Every weekday morning, children aged from three months to five years can enjoy fun and games, while their parents engage in one of the many fitness options the centre has to offer.

You don’t have to be a member of the centre to use the new crèche, however parents must stay on site for the duration of the booking. Prices range from £2.10 per hour per child and the service is dependant on availability.

The Swan Pool is currently undergoing a major revamp worth £2.6 million thanks to a £500,000 Sport England grant and funding from Aylesbury Vale District Council.

A temporary reception area has now opened to enable works to create a new two-storey climbing wall and update the reception area with a larger spectating area.

The centre will also benefit from an extended fitness suite and a refurbished and extended changing village with a new and separate dry side changing area.

Christine Coppack, Contract Manager for Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to offer this fantastic service for our customers. We want to make activity as accessible to everyone as possible and childcare can often be a limitation for parents. With on-site professional childcare available at very reasonable prices we hope that this will encourage more parents and guardians to find some time for some of the many activities on offer at the centre.”

Councillor Angela Macpherson, AVDC Cabinet Member for Leisure, Communities and Civic Amenities, said: “Mums and Dads especially need time for their own mind and body, and taking part with others in a class or working out in the gym is so important. I would encourage parents to make use of this essential facility.”

Keep up to date on the works as they take place by visiting the Everyone Active website.
