A date has now been chosen for a by-election following the sudden and sad passing of Quainton councillor Kevin Hewson. Electors in the Quainton District Ward, which includes Quainton, Pitchcott, Oving, North Marston, Hogshaw and Granborough, will head to the polls on Thursday 3 May 2018.
The counting of votes will take place immediately after the polls close, in Quainton Village Hall.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Neil Blake said: “Kevin was a popular and respected councillor, who will be fondly remembered by his colleagues, but I am quite sure he would not have wanted local residents to be without representation for any period of time. I am pleased a date for a by-election has now been fixed and will be held on Thursday 3 May.”
Peter Brown, Electoral Services Manager, said: “Information and paperwork for potential candidates are available on the Council’s website and nomination papers must be submitted by 4pm on Friday 6 April. Residents of Quainton Ward will be sent poll cards around Wednesday 28 March, but for anyone not already registered to vote, the deadline to apply for this election is midnight on Tuesday 17 April.”
