Sir David Jason is encouraging families to make sure they go along to this year’s Whizzfizzing Festival in Aylesbury. The event – formerly known as the Roald Dahl Festival – will be a fun-packed extravaganza and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever!
Sir David, one of Britain’s best-loved actors who lives in the Vale, said: “The Whizzfizz Fest on 1 July is a great opportunity for families to go along and enjoy the wonderful world of children's literature. Don’t miss out!”
He also revealed his favourite children’s book is the classic Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame, for which he played Toad in the 1980s TV series.
This year’s Whizzfizz line-up includes an amazing range of award-winning authors who’ll help bring their work to life with interactive workshops and activities. Fans of Julian Clary's popular series, The Bolds, are in luck as the author himself will be attending, accompanied by the hugely talented illustrator David Roberts, who will be creating live illustrations.
Another big name is Cbeebies’ Katy Ashworth, a firm favourite from last year’s festival. She’s returning with her Concoction Kitchen and told us that she’s "very much looking forward to having a giggle!” Her weird and wonderful tasty treats proved a real hit last year and Katy has some enticing new recipes to try out this time round.
The festival will also feature a giant ‘Fantastical Beasts’ puppet parade including 600 school children, music, craft, cinema, fancy dress and a live reading of ‘Georges Marvellous Medicine’, as well as lots, lots more!
