Two district councillors resign

6 Jul 2017

Two district councillors have recently resigned their positions for personal reasons.

Nick Lewis (Conservative) had served Riverside ward since May 2015, whilst Peter Agoro (Liberal Democrat), was first elected to Southcourt ward in December 2014. Mr Agoro has also resigned his seat on Aylesbury Town Council.

AVDC’s leader, Councillor Neil Blake, thanked Mr Lewis and Mr Agoro for their contributions to the work of the council and their services to the local community. Councillor Blake added: “I’d like to thank Nick and Peter for their work over recent years and wish them all the best for the future.”

A by-election for the vacant district and town council seats will be held on Thursday 17 August.

Peter Brown (Electoral Services Manager) said: “Information and paperwork for potential candidates is available on AVDC’s website and nomination papers must be submitted by no later than 4pm on Friday 21 July.

“Residents of Southcourt and Riverside (Quarrendon and Berryfields) wards who are registered to vote will be sent poll cards around 13 July. For anyone not already registered to vote, the deadline to apply is 1 August. A full timetable for the by-elections is available on our website”
