Council tax payments

We are moving to a new council tax and benefit system for residents
Between 17 November and 16 December the Aylesbury and Wycombe systems will be closed while the information is moved across. You can still set up a direct debit online and this will take effect from February. You will need to carry on paying your monthly instalments until then. If you want to cancel your direct debit you should contact your bank directly.


Payment methods

Online direct debit

Online direct debit is the quickest and simplest way to pay your council tax bill. You can also select from six convenient dates in the month to make your payment, 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, or the 25th. Payments will be taken automatically from your bank account each month so you can be confident that you’ll always pay on time.

Online card payment

You can pay your council tax 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a debit or credit card. Log in or register for your Aylesbury Vale My Account

Alternatively, you can pay council tax online.

Internet Banking / Standing order

You may set up a standing order to with your bank or building society, payment dates for this option are set as the 1st or the 16th of the month.

Barcoded Bill

Using the barcode on your bill, you can pay at the Post Office or Paypoint outlet by cash, cheque or debit card. Please refer to your bill for the payment due date.

Payment plans

Your Council Tax is normally payable in 10 monthly instalments, April to January, you can also select to pay your Council Tax over 12 instalments, April to March.

The number of instalments will depend on when the account/method of payment has been selected. Your council tax balance will be spread into the remaining instalment dates for the financial year and will not be extended past the last available collection date in March. This could result in fewer instalments than requested.

  • 10 monthly instalments, from April to January
  • 12 monthly instalments, from April to March
  • 2 half-yearly instalments, in April and October
  • 1 annual payment in April
