Cycling in the Vale

Aylesbury Vale Cycle Paths

Aylesbury Vale is well served by a substantial network of bike paths across the district, especially in Aylesbury town as a result of the county council’s previous commitment to increase cycle useage through infrastructure improvements and promotional campaigns.

Aylesbury Vale offers many parks, green spaces and cycle routes for the Recreational cyclist in the towns alongside easy access to the hills and countryside surrounding them. Aylesbury town also offers cycle commuters a good range of facilities, cycle lanes / paths and routes to get to work, school, shops etc.

Women's Cycling - The Breeze network

Group bike rides – led by women, for women

‘Bike rides for women? Great, but I’m not much of a cyclist. Are they for me?’
Breeze rides are for any women who want to get outdoors, have fun, be social and get some gentle exercise. Rides are between four and five miles. And they’re really local – in your neighbourhood, round the park or on quiet cycle ways and residential roads. This is no Olympic challenge and you’ll be riding with women just like you!

Our local Breeze champions will arrange a meeting place and plan a nice route, and then a small group of around eight of you will head out together. Bike rides go at a speed that suits everyone, so don’t worry – no one’s going to be left behind, and no one’s going to be upset if you feel like you’re going a bit slowly.

If people have time, rides will usually start or finish at a cafe or somewhere you can enjoy a tea or coffee and something to eat before heading home. When the weather’s nice and the ride is in the middle of the day, why not take a packed lunch and eat outside? It’s up to you.

The Breeze network is being rolled out across England over the next three years. Groups will be as local as possible. So if you live in the middle of a city that’s where our champions will arrange rides; and if you’re in a more rural area, then you’ll get to ride the lanes near you.

Above all, Breeze bike rides are fun. Of course riding a bike is healthy and good for you, but we’re not about cabbage soup diets and getting on the bathroom scales. Breeze is more a ‘slice of chocolate cake and some fresh air’ kind of healthy. See you on a bike ride soon.

Free and easy to get involved - go to the Breeze website then click on Ride Finder for a Breeze ride in your area - they are constantly updated.
