The latest version of the Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan (VALP) is now published online here in advance of the VALP scrutiny meeting on Tuesday 26 September, starting at 6.30pm at The Gateway. Cabinet will consider the plan on Tuesday 10 October and council on Wednesday 18 October, both at the same time and place.

The Government's Housing White Paper was finally published in February . As expected, it contained a number of proposals for increasing house building as the number of new homes being built continues to fall short of the Government’s housing target. These proposals will have implications for planning decisions in Aylesbury Vale as well as the final stages of development of our Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan (VALP).
Our local plan – will help to accommodate national housing growth demand, allows for around 27,000 new homes in the Vale by 2033 – though around half of these are either already built or have planning permission.
This is an incredibly complex plan, which will affect the Vale for generations to come and getting it right is our priority.
The proposed submission timetable – We’ve been undertaking detailed discussions with both Government officials and an updated timetable of meetings is now published below:
- Tuesday 26 September - VALP Scrutiny Committee
- Tuesday 10 October – Cabinet
Cabinet’s recommendations will then be considered on:
- Wednesday 18 October - Council.
You can come along and hear your councillors discussing the local plan, (*or watch the council meeting live online www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/webcasts). All meetings start at 6.30pm and are held at The Gateway, Gatehouse Road in Aylesbury.
If agreed by council, the proposed submission plan will be published for public comment early November.
The council’s Local Development Scheme has been updated to reflect the above and other more detailed and procedural content. The new LDS is available here. The council remains committed to also producing a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
