What is a smoke control area?

Domestic properties are not allowed to burn coal or wood in smoke control areas – only smokeless fuels can be burnt.

The purpose of a smoke control area is to reduce pollution from domestic chimneys.

Smoke control legislation doesn’t apply to garden bonfires.

There are 3 smoke control areas in Aylesbury; all are to the east of the district, primarily between the A41 and A413.
