Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Policy

Operators and Drivers should note that in April 2017, the Government brought into force sections 165 and 167 of the Equality Act 2010, which include a duty that drivers must not make any additional charge for carrying a disabled passenger. Department for Transport guidance further states that; a meter should not be left running whilst the driver performs duties required by the Act, or the passenger enters, leaves or secures their wheelchair within the passenger compartment.

Immediate changes to Appendix 3 of the Councils policy on taxi and private hire licensing

National Register of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence Refusals and Revocations (NR3) – The Council has amended its policy and from 1 March 2019 will begin using the NR3. This means that from this date all applicants for hackney carriage and private hire driver licences (new and renewal) will be checked on the register. Where an existing licence is revoked or an application refused, this will be recorded on the register. The amendment also sets out the Council’s policy on responding to NR3 related information requests from other Councils. Click here for the NR3 policy.
